The Change in News

Hey everyone, welcome to my news, media and publications blog. I was just watching the news trying to see if there is anything cool to talk about right now when I suddenly realized that how I was getting my news was actually pretty interesting. I found myself combing through Youtube for a news story, which is not only different from how my parents would have gotten their news, but even different to how I got my news only 5 years ago. Superhero Comics

29/03/2017 Main

Hello and welcome loyal readers, to my news media and publications blog. Today, I wanted to talk about the thing that seems to be all the rage at the cinema these days, Super Hero’s and the books that they came from. I love both Superheroes and comic books, and I will admit that sometimes the comic books are better and sometimes the movies are better, but it always starts with a good comic. I went to this website that has cheap used goods for sale and was able to buy a bunch of comics including some of these classics - http://www.used.forsale/.  Read more

Nintendo Power Magazine

Hey there everyone, how are you all doing today? Thanks for checking out my News, media and publications blog where I talk about things ranging from e-readers to travel books. Today though, I decided to talk about a magazine. Thanks to some Nintendo Power classified ads online I now have the whole collection! Nintendo Power unfortunately ended a couple years ago, but what a run this iconic magazine had! Laying the brickwork for other video game magazines, Nintendo Power has earned a spot in the Hall of Video game icons. Read more

A chilling story of Auschwitz

19/12/2016 Main

Auschwitz- The Nazis & The Final Solution by Laurence Rees is not exactly bed time reading. However, it is part of our history and I felt needed to be read. The horrific acts from human to fellow humans I believe make us the worst animals on the planet. In Auschwitz camp alone there were over 1 million people tortured and murdered by the Nazi German regime. These people were mostly Polish Jews but included people from all over Europe, who were disabled or gypsies or for any reason didn’t fit the Nazi ideal. Read more

Sports Illustrated Magazine covers

19/12/2016 Main

Whats up everyone, welcome back to my news and media blog at mmfb. Do any of you guys collect magazine covers? I started collecting Sports Illustrated magazine covers after finding some second hand bargains on the web and I have to say, my collection is getting a little impressive. I like to see how the covers have changed over the years, including the art style and the font but how the covers are all recognizable as one from sports illustrated. These are some of the ones that I am missing from my collection but would like to acquire somehow or another. Read more

Flipboard

Welcome back to my news, media and publications blog ladies and gents. How are we all doing today? Are we all full of beans and raring to go? Good! Let’s get amongst it. How do you all like to consume your news? Watch it on the TV? Read the newspapers? Listen to it on the radio? Or do you prefer any other many methods that have become available. I personally love using the Flipboard app on my iPad. Flipboard is a news and social network aggregation service. It curates articles and posts from around the internet based upon your preferred topics of interest and arranges them in an extremely user-friendly “swipe left” magazine style layout. It is the perfect method for browsing the news that matters to you in a leisurely manner on your mobile device. It has received numerous positive reviews and was named Apple’s “App of the Year 2010”. It is available to download on iOS, Android and Windows Phone. I can thoroughly recommend it to you all. It is completely free of charge so don’t worry about cost. I know that you are going to love using it. Just do me favour and drop me a line to let me know what you think of the app. I would love to hear your thoughts. Are there any other apps you would like me to review in future posts? Or are there any apps you would personally recommend yourselves? Just drop me a line and let me know. Read more

Newspaper holders/news in brief

Hi folks, and welcome back to my news and media blog.  I recently re-subscribed to lots of newspapers which I used to subscribe to but after buying a kindle I was reading them all on that.  I missed the feeling of picking up a newspaper and flicking through the pages, plus the smell of freshly printed ink, there is nothing quite like it.  Me and my husband had thoroughly missed sitting at the breakfast table swapping papers back and forth.   However, I had forgotten about how annoying it can get having newspapers sitting on the dining room table without any home to go to.  So I had a quick look online and found a great second hand vintage newspaper holder fromwww.for-sale.ie/newspaper-holder.  I love it.  One of the other additional things I have missed reading on my kindle are all the little stories that you skip past, so I wanted to share some of these with you from this week. Trumpton

So despite ranting in an earlier post about how much the US election has been dominating the airwaves, I’m going to add to it myself. The results have been in for a while now and it seems the dust is going to keep flying for some time, and with no surprises. From a population of over 300 million people, the American electorate first narrowed it down to two people that I wouldn’t trust to run a lemonade stall, let alone the most powerful country in the world.
